BEFORE, women in Hurungwe rural district used to dig for water in dry riverbeds as a source of water as shown in the first frame. Due to the lack of available water sources in the area, women used to used to dig shallow water points in spots where water would likely be present.

NOW as seen in frame 2, women in Hurungwe have access to clean and safe water. Women in Hurungwe no longer need to do hand dug water points as they now have access to clean, adequate and safe water that is pumped out through the boreholes.

The establishment of boreholes by 4-H Zimbabwe in the area has greatly improved the health and wellbeing of rural women. The distance that was travelled in order to access safe and adequate water has been greatly reduced.
