4-H Zimbabwe held a garden-based agronomic training for the youth in Rengwe Youth Garden, Ward 15, Hurungwe Rural District. The session was focused on topics like soil health, pest management, crop rotation, and water conservation.

The aim is to ensure young people know how to grow food sustainably and to improve their agricultural practices using the latest techniques in good agronomic practices (GAPs). The garden was established as a source of empowerment for the youth in the district.
One of the participants and youth farmers, Tarisayi Gwaze shared her story. “Before this training, I was unaware of the importance of always considering the soil type and the pests. But now, I know exactly how to keep my soil healthy and my crops thriving,”

The organisation wants to ensure that young people are resilient and have adequate strategies and resources to adapt to and mitigate Climate Change. 4-H Zimbabwe has eight (8) established solar-powered gardens in the Hurungwe District.
The training sessions will continue, ensuring that young people in the district are well-equipped and empowered through agriculture. These training sessions will also help in boosting young people`s confidence by making them feel like change makers in the community.
