4-H Zimbabwe Foundation through it`s sports initiative seeks to use sport as a tool to promote peace, social cohesion, raise awareness on drug abuse, anti-discrimination and to promote personal development amongst the children and youth in Zimbabwe which is under our two thematic areas – (i) Health Living Environment and (ii) Peace and Governance.

The activity was held at Holy Cross High School in Chirumanzu Rural District in the Midlands Province. The activity sought mainly to create strong, school based structures for the use of sport as a mechanism for children’s personal development as well as to use  sport as a platform for campaigns on anti-drug abuse.

During implementation of the activity, the school’s under 17 soccer team was equipped with 20 soccer kits and 5 soccer balls whilst 50 children were educated on positive social behavior especially on the harmfulness of substance abuse. In addition, 5 school teachers who are responsible for the school sporting programs went through a basic refresher training on football coaching and children engagement.

This platform that was designed by 4-H Zimbabwe Foundation did create a safe environment for children to engage and discuss issues affecting them.
